Friend takes over

So, my boss hired his stupid pal to be my supervisor. He's not as bad at the job as I thought he would be ... he's worse. He thinks being a boss means delegating all the work to subordinates, coming in late, leaving early and filling one's time with endless meetings while nodding sagely.

I fear for this company's future.

he sounds like an expert de-motivator. i share your feelings towards your company's future. if this guy is the best your boss can find you have a real problem with leadership on your hands.

i never advise a businessman to hire family or friends because (a) you can't fire them without damaging the relationship, (b) your personal feelings get in the way of truly evaluating them properly and (c) bringing them onboard lowers the morale of other employees who are probably smarter and better qualified to do their job.

with guys like him in control, your company is doomed to struggle and utimately fail.

Amazing! I google stupid bosses and the first comment I find is one that describes my exact situation. "de-motivator" is a brilliant name for my boss. I have never felt more oppressed and unmotivated in my life. I'm glad to find people with the same problems.
