Moron

It's a small firm involved in a merger but the industry is like 1 big high school. The new boss has drifted thru several companies where she has a rep for not doing anything, her projects bombing left & right; runs ops groups with no knowledge (nor willingness to learn) of the work they deliver. She takes relo packages rather than get fired for incompetance. She gets promoted because of looks and family connections. Now she is our boss, does nothing, makes a HUGE salary. Never makes meetings or shows up severlty late rolling her blackberry and not paying attention; never dials in yet messages us tons of questions about things she'd have caught had she showed up. Never supports us in problems, takes no ownership or acountability when we struggle - we're on our own. Takes off in middle of releases to go shopping in NYC. Does not leave out of office messages, nor tell us in advance when she is taking a vacation day. Has formed no trusting work relationships because people do not want to be associated with her. Bad rep known all over the place. Folks in other offices who worked for her were laid off arbitrarily because she would not fight for them (she fights for nothing and nobody but herself) and she still has a job. Doesn't say thank you. Holds extended personal chit chats rather than hang up in time to honor an appointment for employee 1:1's.

The only thing for this situation is for justice to prevail. At some point, some day, she's going to get hers and when she does it will be really bad. You can't sew that much bad seed without eventually reaping a wicked harvest.

This year is only 12 weeks old and Moron has taken 2 vacations so far, always across significant release weekends. SME's were gone, and Mo was in 150% delegation mode and mute in all meetings. We had to do all the talking. We had to do all the watching and feed her 1-line updates which she could read without scrolling on the blackberry.

Well dear readers, justice has prevailed. Moron was managed out of the company.

Management actually listened the 360 degree bad feedback, and witnessed her poor performance for themselves. They followed corporate policy and gave her a chance. When it was clear she wouldn't deliver anything but fresh lipstick, they told her to quit or get fired. She gave 2 weeks notice. She has 3 days left but has already relo'd, under the guise, "I am working remotely for the next 3 days." Didn't tell any of us that in advance. Of course she is not showing as Online on Sametime. Office is empty, car is shipped.
Um, goodbye?

Awkward, though: she gave me a good review. I avoided her like the plague and kept my nose to the grindstone, feeding her the daily 1-line updates on the release. I guess that works for her management style. I have some guilt over deriding her when in the end she was nice to me, but the guilt is not strong. I deserved that good review. I worked hard for it and delivered in absence of management support.

If you're in L.A., be careful. She moved out there and says she has a new job starting this Friday.
